About the role
- Support and be mentored in all aspects of building and facility electrical design.
- Conduct field surveys, calculations, and computer-aided design (CAD) tasks.
- Prepare power systems AC and DC single-line diagrams, metering and relaying schematics, AC and DC control schematics, wiring drawings, substation equipment layout drawings, conduit routing drawings, cable schedules, and equipment mounting and installation drawings.
- Design grounding grids, lightning protection, lighting, and related power distribution systems.
- Assist in preparing technical and cost proposals, as well as change orders for existing projects.
- Interface with railway clients, utility company representatives, and other departments within STV.
- Develop schematic designs into construction documents under the guidance of a Senior Engineer.
- Provide designs and calculations for power, lighting, and fire alarm systems.
- Participate actively in all project phases from planning through construction close-out.
- Coordinate utility service layouts, power generation/storage, and power system distributions.
- Use AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, and Microsoft Word to assemble contract documents.
- Construct electrical system models in SKM, ETAP, and EasyPower, and perform electrical calculations.
- Develop designs using Revit and/or AutoCAD for power, lighting, and fire alarm systems.
- Perform electrical calculations using specialized engineering software.
- Perform other tasks as assigned to support project goals and team objectives.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering at an ABET-accredited University or NCEES equivalent.
- Experience in the architecture/engineering/construction management industry.
- Intermediate proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation CAD software.
- Ability to learn and use commercial AC power system analysis software for load flow simulation, short-circuit calculations, relay settings, coordination, and ground grid design.
