About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the technical direction of GenAI and multimodal agent capabilities for medical devices
  • Translate product needs into robust, testable AI system designs and drive architecture across components
  • Carry high-risk technical components from prototype through validation-ready implementation
  • Architect stateful agentic systems including intent handling, tool/function calling, dialog and device-state management, interruption handling, and recovery
  • Design layered safety guardrails and define testable model boundaries
  • Establish evaluation standards, comprehensive test sets, and automated harnesses for multimodal GenAI systems
  • Develop and evaluate real-time speech and language components while balancing quality with medical hardware constraints
  • Evaluate, select, integrate, and fine-tune off-the-shelf and small-footprint models
  • Own buy/adapt/build decisions and their justification
  • Establish safety, bias, and performance metrics and produce QMS and regulatory submission documentation
  • Instrument systems with structured logging, agent-action audit trails, and reproducible evaluation runs
  • Mentor junior engineers and ensure engineering quality through design and code review
  • Communicate AI constraints and trade-offs to product, clinical, and regulatory stakeholders
  • Track GenAI, speech, and agent-architecture advances and incorporate relevant developments into the roadmap

Requirements

What you’ll need
