About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a strategic business partner and advisor to the Sports Medicine Business Unit.
- Effectively communicate with leadership at all levels of the organization, bringing in feedback and gaining alignment from a wide range of functions
- Provide timely analysis and counsel on a diverse range of legal issues
- Independently draft, review, negotiate, and advise on a variety of agreements (e.g., sales, services, supply, distribution, consulting, clinical study, non-disclosure, employment, and other commercial arrangements)
- Analyze and provide clear and concise guidance on laws, rules, regulations, and Stryker policies as necessary, including with respect to the company’s interactions with healthcare professionals
- Collaborate with lawyers and other professionals from Stryker’s Centers of Expertise to manage a variety of significant matters (e.g., strategic contracting, data privacy and security, intellectual property, litigation, employment, and regulatory matters)
- Provide pragmatic and business-relevant assessments of legal risk and exhibit the ability to effectively communicate legal risk to non-legal professionals
- Exercise excellent judgment in identifying and escalating issues to management
- Support the overall objectives of the Sports Medicine Business Unit and Enterprise Governance Department
- Collaborate and communicate with colleagues, management, business partners, and outside counsel
- Assist on other matters as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and admission to practice law.
- Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction and ability to maintain good standing.
- Minimum of 10 years of legal experience, including advising business leaders on complex legal and compliance matters.
- Demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing a broad range of commercial agreements.
- Proven ability to assess legal risk and provide practical, business-oriented legal advice in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience building strong, collaborative relationships with cross-functional stakeholders and senior business leaders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, legal research, contract drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to integrity, ethics, accountability, and sound professional judgment.
- Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively to non-legal audiences.
