About the role
- Ensure consistency of visual brand language across divisional and inter-divisional product designs.
- Identify new market opportunities—both core and adjacent—aligned with brand values and strategic goals.
- Lead research on design trends and product limitations; use insights to define user experience, aesthetics, safety, functionality, and production feasibility.
- Drive development of product vision and portfolio brand language, influencing design strategy and execution.
- Provide expert input on form development, human factors, ergonomics, material selection, finishes, color, and graphical user interfaces for Stryker products.
- Lead and facilitate multi-disciplinary team meetings, presenting design concepts and portfolio to stakeholders and management.
- Oversee testing and validation of designs through focus groups, surveys, and user feedback sessions; manage external design firms as needed.
- Mentor Industrial Designers, lead design reviews, and actively contribute to building design excellence within the team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in science (Industrial Design, Product Design, or related discipline) with relevant experience in design and product development.
- 8+ years of professional experience, including leading development teams and projects, supported by a portfolio showcasing commercialized products.
- Proven experience working in a regulated industry.
- Expertise in design software (such as Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino)
