About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Deliver specific course content in an online environment
Provide instruction, support, and guidance while managing the learning process
Personalize learning and differentiate instruction based on student mastery
Monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system
Work closely with students and parents/learning coaches toward established learning goals
Augment course content using synchronous and asynchronous tools under principal and coach guidance
Maintain the grade book and ensure student academic integrity
Make student placement and promotion decisions and alert administrators to performance concerns
Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
Establish positive rapport with families and communicate with students and learning coaches/parents promptly
Support learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting issues
Travel as required for professional development, student testing, and school functions

Requirements

What you’ll need

Active High School 4-8 Generalist or Science Certification
Texas residency requirement
Bachelor's degree
Active state teaching license
Ability to clear required background check
Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday, typically 9-5 or 8-4
Experience with the proposed age group preferred
Experience supporting adults and children with technology preferred
Online, virtual, or brick-and-mortar teaching experience preferred
Experience with online learning platforms preferred
Ability to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic student-data representations and use them for instructional decisions
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint desired
Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum
