About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist teachers in delivering differentiated instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals
  • Use assistive technology and varied methods to teach the regular education curriculum
  • Co-teach and collaborate with special education and general education teachers and coaches
  • Coordinate special education requirements for inclusion-program students
  • Assess student mastery using state standards and testing requirements
  • Prepare students for standardized tests and assist with local and state assessments
  • Communicate with students, parents, teachers, coaches, staff, administrators, and stakeholders about performance and progress
  • Build positive relationships with families
  • Track student progress and motivate students with goal-based incentives
  • Enter documentation and maintain records in appropriate systems
  • Maintain compliance with company and district record-keeping requirements
  • Provide reports and participate in special education meetings, staff meetings, and professional development
  • Resolve day-to-day problems involving staff and students
  • Help develop an effective special education program
  • Participate in Response to Intervention processes when requested
  • Support school committees, assemblies, events, incentives, and community service opportunities
  • Assist with pre- and post-school duties, clubs, lunch, and before- or after-school duties as required
  • Communicate special education student needs to school leadership
  • Promote a positive school environment and enforce school and classroom rules and policies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma and one (1) year of providing support to students, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to pass a required background search
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities
  • Adaptability and comfort in a fast-paced work environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Web proficiency
  • Familiarity with the online learning experience
  • Ability to learn new technology tools quickly, including database and web-based tools
  • Residency in North Carolina or South Carolina preferred; candidates residing in surrounding states Georgia, Tennessee, or Virginia may be considered
  • Desired: four years of college education
