About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver specific middle school science course content in an online environment

  • Support parents and learning coaches with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting issues
  • Travel for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and other school requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Active state teaching license
  • Appropriate state Department of Education Middle School (5-8) Science Teaching Certification
  • If currently certified in another state, proof of New Mexico license application within 7 days of the start date and an approved New Mexico teaching license within 90 days of the start date
  • Ability to clear required background check
  • Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
  • Ability to maintain a professional, distraction-free home office during the workday, typically 9-5 or 8-4 as defined by the school
  • Experience working with the proposed age group
  • Experience supporting adults and children using technology
  • Experience teaching online/virtually and/or in a brick-and-mortar environment
  • Experience with online learning platforms
  • Ability to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic student-data representations and use them for instructional decisions
  • Ability to receive regular coaching from administrators and teacher trainers
  • Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
  • Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum
