About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver specific high school advanced math course content in an online environment
  • Provide synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences
  • Personalize learning and differentiate instruction based on student mastery
  • Manage the learning process and focus on individual student needs
  • Monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system
  • Maintain the grade book and make student placement and promotion decisions
  • Alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress
  • Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
  • Establish and maintain positive rapport with families
  • Communicate with and respond to students and learning coaches/parents
  • Support learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting issues
  • Collaborate with teachers to interpret student data and use it to drive instructional decisions
  • Travel for face-to-face professional development, student testing, school functions, or as otherwise required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience with advanced math in high school
  • Appropriate state Department of Education High School (6-12) Math Teaching Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Active state teaching license
  • Ability to clear required background check
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to maintain a professional, distraction-free home office
  • Availability for instructional hours between 9-5 EST or 8-4
  • Availability and flexibility to support varying school schedules and student needs
  • Ability to collaborate with teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data
  • Receptive to regular coaching from administrators and teacher trainers
  • Ability to embrace change and adapt
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to modern technologies and teaching platforms
  • Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum
  • Ability to travel up to 20% for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and/or as required by the school
