About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver specific special education course content in an online environment
- Provide instruction, support, and guidance while managing the learning process
- Address students’ individual needs as defined by each student’s Individualized Education Program
- Communicate and build relationships with students, parents, families, learning coaches, and related service staff
- Ensure special education and related services are delivered according to IEP requirements
- Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports, and required state special education documentation
- Facilitate and lead collaborative special education meetings, including annual IEP meetings
- Implement accommodations and modifications using assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, and accessible text
- Modify Stride K12 lessons and assessments according to IEPs
- Ensure student inclusion and success in the general education classroom
- Collect data and work samples to monitor progress toward IEP goals
- Document parent contacts and student interventions
- Analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment
- Provide synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences
- Maintain the grade book and make placement and promotion decisions
- Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
- Communicate with and respond to students and learning coaches/parents in a timely manner
- Support learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting issues
- Collaborate with teachers to interpret student data and drive instructional decisions
- Travel up to 20% for professional development, student testing, and/or school requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree
- Active state teaching license
- Missouri Special Education Teaching Certification
- Ability to clear required background check
- 0–1 year of related professional experience
- Must reside in Missouri
- Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
- Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
- Ability to collaborate with teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic student-data representations
- Ability to use student data to drive instructional decisions
- Receptive to regular coaching from administrators
- Ability to embrace change and adapt to support student outcomes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with the proposed age group, online or brick-and-mortar teaching, technology support, and online learning platforms desired
