About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver specific course content in an online environment
- Provide instruction, support, and guidance to students
- Manage the learning process and focus on individual student needs
- Monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system
- Work closely with students and parents/learning coaches to advance learning toward established goals
- Provide synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences
- Personalize learning and differentiate instruction based on student mastery
- Augment course content using approved synchronous and asynchronous tools
- Maintain the grade book and ensure student academic integrity
- Make student placement and promotion decisions
- Alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress
- Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
- Maintain positive rapport with families and communicate with students and learning coaches/parents
- Support learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting issues
- Travel for professional development, student testing, and other school requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Virginia Elementary Teaching Certificate
- Residency in Virginia strongly preferred; candidates in Washington, DC and Maryland may be considered
- Bachelor's degree
- Active state teaching license
- Ability to clear required background check
- Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
- Ability to maintain a professional, distraction-free home office during the workday
- Experience working with the proposed age group preferred
- Experience supporting adults and children in using technology preferred
- Experience teaching online or in a brick-and-mortar environment preferred
- Experience with online learning platforms preferred
- Ability to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic student-data representations
- Ability to use student data to drive instructional decisions
- Receptiveness to regular coaching
- Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
- Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum
