About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver specific course content in an online environment
- Provide instruction, support, and guidance focused on students’ individual IEP needs
- Ensure special education and related services are provided as determined by the IEP team
- Communicate with parents and related service staff regarding appropriate therapies
- Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports, and required special education documentation
- Facilitate and lead collaborative special education meetings, including annual IEP meetings
- Implement accommodations and modifications using assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, and accessible text
- Modify Stride K12 lessons and assessments according to IEPs
- Ensure student inclusion and success in the general education classroom
- Collect data and work samples to monitor progress toward IEP goals
- Document parent contacts and student interventions
- Analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment
- Provide synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences
- Maintain the grade book and make placement and promotion decisions
- Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
- Maintain positive rapport and communicate promptly with students, learning coaches, and parents
- Support learning coaches and parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting
- Travel up to 20% for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and/or school requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree
- Active state teaching license
- Michigan Teaching Certification required
- Special Education endorsement required
- Ability to clear required background check
- Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
- Ability to maintain a professional, distraction-free home office during the workday
- Ability to collaborate with teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic student-data representations
- Ability to use student data to drive instructional decisions
- Receptive to regular coaching from administrators
- Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with the proposed age group, online or brick-and-mortar teaching, technology support, and online learning platforms is desired
