About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Deliver specific course content in an online environment
Provide instruction, support, and guidance focused on students’ individual IEP needs
Ensure special education and related services are provided as determined by the IEP team
Communicate with parents and related service staff regarding appropriate therapies
Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports, and required special education documentation
Facilitate and lead collaborative special education meetings, including annual IEP meetings
Implement accommodations and modifications using assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, and accessible text
Modify Stride K12 lessons and assessments according to IEPs
Ensure student inclusion and success in the general education classroom
Collect data and work samples to monitor progress toward IEP goals
Document parent contacts and student interventions
Analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment
Provide synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences
Maintain the grade book and make placement and promotion decisions
Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
Maintain positive rapport and communicate promptly with students, learning coaches, and parents
Support learning coaches and parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting
Travel up to 20% for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and/or school requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree
Active state teaching license
Michigan Teaching Certification required
Special Education endorsement required
Ability to clear required background check
Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
Ability to maintain a professional, distraction-free home office during the workday
Ability to collaborate with teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic student-data representations
Ability to use student data to drive instructional decisions
Receptive to regular coaching from administrators
Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience with the proposed age group, online or brick-and-mortar teaching, technology support, and online learning platforms is desired
