About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Deliver specific high school science course content in an online environment
Provide instruction, support, and guidance while managing the learning process
Personalize learning and differentiate instruction based on student mastery
Provide synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences
Monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system
Maintain the grade book and make student placement and promotion decisions
Alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress
Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
Establish and maintain positive rapport with families
Communicate with and respond to students and learning coaches/parents in a timely manner
Support learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting issues
Travel as required for professional development, student testing, and school functions

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree
Active state teaching license
Appropriate state Department of Education High School (9-12) Science Teaching Certification
Ability to clear required background check
Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday
Experience working with the proposed age group
Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology
Experience teaching in an online or brick-and-mortar environment
Experience with online learning platforms
Ability to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data and use it to drive instructional decisions
Ability to receive regular coaching from administrators and teacher trainers
Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum
