About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver specific Middle School Health and PE course content in an online environment
- Provide instruction, support, and guidance while managing the learning process
- Personalize learning based on students’ individual needs and levels of mastery
- Provide synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences
- Monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system
- Maintain the grade book and make student placement and promotion decisions
- Alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress
- Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
- Build positive rapport with families and communicate with students, parents, and learning coaches
- Support parents and learning coaches with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting issues
- Collaborate with teachers to interpret student data and use it to drive instructional decisions
- Travel as required for professional development, student testing, and school functions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree
- Active North Carolina teaching license/certification
- North Carolina Health/PE endorsement
- Ability to clear the required background check
- Must reside in North Carolina
- Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
- Ability to maintain a professional, distraction-free home office during the workday
- Experience working with the proposed age group preferred
- Experience supporting adults and children with technology preferred
- Experience teaching online or in a brick-and-mortar environment preferred
- Experience with online learning platforms preferred
- Ability to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic student-data representations
- Ability to use student data to drive instructional decisions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
- Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum
