About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Research and provide teachers with information, resources, guidance, and content knowledge regarding effective and innovative math instructional practices
  • Support teachers by introducing teaching strategies, assessment techniques, results interpretation, and resource materials
  • Conduct one-to-one discussions and coaching sessions
  • Demonstrate lessons with pre- and post-discussion analysis
  • Conduct study groups and participate in staff meetings and professional development
  • Coordinate and facilitate pilots of instructional materials and software implementations
  • Monitor student progress through K12 interactive lessons and daily assessments
  • Coordinate and facilitate reading intervention initiatives for students in grades K-5
  • Collect and review work samples
  • Alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress
  • Maintain confidentiality of school, teachers, and classrooms
  • Travel for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and other school events

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Tennessee Middle School English Teaching Certification required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field of study
  • Five years of teaching experience
  • Two years of successful coaching or mentoring experience
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Pedagogical knowledge of math content and ability to apply critical thinking
  • Knowledge of state content standards and ability to align them with the K12 curriculum
  • Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes
  • Ability to problem solve independently and maintain a high level of organization
  • Ability to manage interdependent deadlines across multiple projects
  • Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
  • Ability to maintain a professional, distraction-free home office during the workday
  • Ability to travel as required, approximately 25% of the time
  • Access to reliable high-speed internet
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
  • Ability to maintain teacher certification and professional development hours
  • Fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum
  • Ability to clear a required background check
  • Master’s degree in Education desired
