About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Welcome new families to K12 Schools and guide them through account setup, platform navigation, and orientation resources.
  • Build positive, supportive relationships with students to increase motivation, connection, and sense of belonging.
  • Monitor student participation in classes and online learning environments; follow up with students showing disengagement or non-participation.
  • Develop and implement engagement plans and incentive programs to promote consistent attendance and academic involvement.
  • Collaborate with teachers to adapt instructional strategies and promote active learning for struggling students.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding attendance expectations, concerns, and improvement plans.
  • Coordinate with school counselors, social workers, and administrators to address attendance barriers (health, motivation, family, etc.).
  • Attend attendance conferences and serve as part of the school academic intervention team.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to align remediation activities with current curriculum and student learning goals.
  • Use assessment data to design and monitor intervention plans that accelerate student progress.
  • Document academic interventions and report student progress to stakeholders.
  • Communicate regularly with families and maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Demonstrate commitment to equitable outcomes and culturally responsive practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of interactions and supports in PowerSchool with clarity and completeness.
  • Participate actively in professional learning and contribute to a positive school culture.
  • Apply knowledge of school systems, policies, and procedures to resolve requests.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • NC Teaching License Preferred
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree
  • Must have prior school experience
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience with student information systems or similar databases
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
