About the role
- Act as a conduit between career learning leadership and data strategy teams to define, track and measure career learning KPIs and their impact on business goals
- Drive a culture of data products in the career learning organization by creating best practices and implementing them across career learning services
- Develop, implement and deliver data products across the company
- Lead a team focused on developing, implementing and supporting data reporting practices to improve student performance and student experience
- Lead a team of Data Analysts providing consumer support with data products, communicating stakeholder feedback, and conducting ad hoc reporting
- Engage with academic, technical and organizational departments to provide appropriate solutions for stakeholders
- Maintain close contact with cross-functional partners to report data challenges, provide quality assurance, offer training/support and communicate new data tools and product enhancements
- Gather feedback from stakeholders and communicate findings to technical developers to help drive product improvement
- Serve as subject matter expert on academic data ensuring timely updates in Alation and/or clarification to stakeholders
- Maintain updated and accurate support for academic reporting tools (trainings, website, QRGs, newsletters, etc.)
- Support cross-functional partners by analyzing large amounts of data, creating new solutions and providing actionable insights
- Implement an Agile methodology to be responsive to ad hoc data requests with timely turnarounds
- Analyze data, interpret results, provide summaries with actionable insights, and ensure data integrity, accuracy and quality
- Collect data to monitor and report on implementation of specific initiatives and identify new data sources to enhance analytics
- Provide thought leadership for strategic data-driven decision making across the organization
- Supervisory responsibilities: directly supervises 1 - 3 FTE and/or contractors including interviewing, hiring, training, assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding/disciplining, and resolving complaints
Requirements
- Five (5) years of data analysis experience
- Previous management experience
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with data analysis, modeling, design and documentation
- Knowledge of programming standards and techniques with experience writing in SQL
- Experience developing dashboards in business intelligence tools such as PowerBI
- Experience scripting in Python for ETL processes
- Ability to communicate technology concepts effectively with technically proficient and non-technically proficient individuals
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Effective customer service and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Experience in developing reports and/or dashboards
- Ability to clear background check
- BS degree in mathematics, computer science, technology or education leadership (desired)
- Experience working in education with academic data sets and/or career learning data sets (desired)
- Experience working in Snowflake, DBT, Streamsets and/or Alation (desired)
