About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of captive insurance clients
- Build and maintain relationships with client executives, board members, regulators, auditors, actuaries, tax advisors, and banking partners
- Lead client meetings and participate in board meetings and strategic planning discussions
- Communicate financial, regulatory, and operational matters in writing and verbally
- Review and oversee preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules
- Review account reconciliations, journal entries, and accounting deliverables
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Support statutory reporting and NAIC-related filings
- Oversee domicile regulatory filings, annual reports, premium tax filings, and other regulatory requirements
- Partner with regulators and external service providers to ensure timely compliance
- Assist clients with regulatory inquiries and examinations
- Manage annual financial statement audits and regulatory examinations
- Coordinate information requests, documentation, and communication among auditors, regulators, and clients
- Review audit deliverables and ensure timely issue resolution
- Mentor and support junior accounting and account management staff
- Support training, development, and technical coaching initiatives
- Review work product and provide constructive feedback
- Foster collaboration, accountability, and service excellence across account teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Experience with insurance accounting, regulatory reporting, audits, examinations, and client account management required
- 6+ years of progressive accounting, captive management, or insurance accounting experience
- Captive insurance experience required
- CPA preferred
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong organizational, analytical, and project management abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience managing client relationships and serving as a primary point of contact
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and statutory insurance accounting principles
