About the role

  • Design and develop PCB layouts from electrical schematics using PCB design software Siemens (Mentor Graphics) Xpedition.
  • Design and develop highly complex PCB layouts leveraging design methodologies by board technology, e.g., analog, power supplies, digital, RF, and mixed technologies
  • Design and develop low-noise, high-density, multi-layer circuit boards ensuring signal integrity and mechanical fit, including flex and rigid-flex PCBs.
  • Create, release and maintain all documentation for the PCB layout, including Gerber files.
  • Manage constraints and perform design rule checks and other PCB design checks related to electrical, mechanical and manufacturing requirements.
  • Collaborate with design engineers and cross-functional teams to integrate PCBs into larger systems within hardware and/or mechanical systems to ensure environmental requirements are met.
  • Perform and coordinate DFM/DFA activities with cross functional team’s, design reviews.
  • Perform and coordinate simulations and validations with cross-functional team to ensure functionality and reliability of a PCBA.
  • Provides, suggests, and supports solutions for VA/VE and cost improvement activities related to PCB/A’s.
  • Attends Customer/Supplier design meetings as the assigned PCB Design Engineer representative within the cross functional product development teams as required.
  • Recommends, releases and maintains best practices and standards for PCB designs.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related field
  • 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Demonstrated ability in creating PCB designs, fabrication drawings, PCB assemblies and supporting PCB documentation using software such as Siemens (Mentor Graphics) Xpedition, PADS, Altium and HyperLynx
  • Demonstrated ability to use analysis tools such as Siemens HyperLynx and similar tools to perform design analysis and verification
  • Strong understanding of PCB/A manufacturing processes, with multi-layer designs, and assembly processes such as SMT, reflow soldering, and wave soldering
  • Experience in Digital and Power Analog PCB designs, RF design a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret schematic / technical drawings
  • Knowledge of electronic components and circuits including IPC standards
  • IPC certification a plus
  • Working knowledge of structured problem-solving methodologies and troubleshooting
  • Interpretation and understanding of mechanical drawing specifications and GD&T
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as working in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively across a cross-functional team.
