About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Edit documents for correct grammar, consistency, sense, accuracy, proper wording, format, and style
  • Use databases to cite check and perform character-by-character comparisons
  • Revise and format documents, apply track changes, and navigate automatic numbering and styles
  • Accurately track and record time in Firm timekeeping software
  • Communicate and collaborate with team regarding workload and availability
  • Create and update knowledge articles, editing guides, and internal style sheets
  • Negotiate deadlines with attorneys and staff

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, or related field required
  • At least three years of relevant experience in a deadline-oriented environment with an academic, technical, or legal organization where core responsibilities included proofreading, editing and drafting documents, including correspondence, marketing documents/press releases, contracts, technical documents, legal pleadings and expert reports.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, iManage, Adobe Acrobat, Litera Compare, Metadata Assistant, Carpe Diem, Lexis, Westlaw, and Drafting Assistant/Deal Proof
  • Expert organizational, grammar, and editing skills and high attention to detail
  • Outstanding interpersonal and client service skills
  • Clear, effective, and professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and verbal communication in English.
