About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Plan and direct daily drop installation activities for the assigned crew
  • Ensure subscriber drop installations meet company standards, project specifications, and manufacturer guidelines
  • Track daily production against grant-mandated and program-specific timelines
  • Coordinate scheduling with the Drop Installation Manager
  • Conduct quality inspections of completed installations
  • Maintain material inventory and staging
  • Maintain daily production records, including unit counts, addresses, completion status, exceptions, and rework
  • Identify and resolve field-level access, routing, and customer scheduling issues
  • Directly supervise and lead the crew in the field
  • Train crew members on installation standards, safety, tools, equipment, and customer interactions
  • Manage scheduling, time tracking, and daily work assignments
  • Provide performance feedback and escalate personnel or staffing issues
  • Enforce federal, state, and local safety compliance
  • Conduct daily safety briefings and ensure PPE and safe work practices
  • Ensure compliance with 811 locate requirements, property access protocols, and permitting conditions
  • Report incidents, near-misses, and property damage; participate in investigations and corrective actions
  • Serve as the on-site escalation point for customer concerns
  • Coordinate installation scheduling, access requirements, and property restoration
  • Ensure work areas are clean and restored to pre-installation condition
  • Provide daily production updates and next-day plans to the Drop Installation Manager
  • Maintain installation tracking records in project management and scheduling systems
  • Participate in crew and production meetings
  • Document and report rework, failed inspections, and quality trends with corrective actions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with fiber optic drop installation or OSP construction
  • Minimum 6 months of experience leading or supervising field construction or installation crews, or demonstrated readiness to do so
  • Strong working knowledge of fiber optic drop installation methods, materials, and best practices for aerial and buried applications
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, splice schematics, and drop assignment maps
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to travel up to 100% for project assignments
  • Proficiency with a tablet or mobile device for daily reporting and production tracking
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders, and working at heights
  • Ability to work 40 to 60+ hours per week as project demands require
  • Strong interpersonal skills for professional customer and property-owner interactions
  • Preferred: Experience with FTTH/FTTP drop installation at scale
  • Preferred: Familiarity with grant-funded broadband deployment programs and compliance documentation
  • Preferred: OSHA 10-Hour Construction certification
  • Preferred: Experience with fiber optic splicing and testing
  • Preferred: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
