About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Monthly & year-end close: Participation in and preparation of month- and year-end closings, including BWA (management report) and e-commerce-specific accruals
- Inventory valuation & COGS: Monitoring inventory accounting, valuing stock and calculating and posting cost of goods sold
- Payments & liquidity management: Supporting cash flow monitoring and ensuring clean financial flows
- Payment matching & reconciliation: Automated reconciliation of incoming payments (PayPal, Klarna, Shopify Payments) with ERP data
- International VAT: Handling the OSS procedure and the tax treatment of exports (especially the USA)
- Returns management: Accounting for returns and refunds
- Interface management: Ensuring and optimizing the data flow between Shopify, ERP (e.g. Xentral) and DATEV/Addison
- Process optimization: Further development of our digital accounting processes (GoBD-compliant)
Requirements
What you’ll need- Completed training as a tax clerk, financial accountant or equivalent
- Several years of experience in financial accounting, ideally in e-commerce
- Very good Excel skills
- Experience with monthly and annual financial statements
- Confident English for collaboration with international partners (e.g. US tax advisors)
- Experience with DATEV or Addison, ideally also Shopify and ERP systems (e.g. Xentral)
- Familiarity with payment providers (especially PayPal and card processors)
- Structured, independent working style and enjoyment in questioning and improving processes
