About the role
- Own the full billing service lifecycle: architecture, design, development, deployment, and continuous improvement.
- Lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and product owners, promoting collaboration, clear ownership, and high performance.
- Act as the primary product owner for the billing service, translating complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions and prioritizing the product roadmap.
- Ensure clear accountability and alignment across the team for both technical delivery and product outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with senior stakeholders in finance, sales, SAP, and external partners to guarantee seamless integration and compliance.
- Define and enforce best practices in service-oriented architecture, API design, security, testing, and release management.
- Manage complex dependencies and risks in a multi-vendor, multi-system billing environment.
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, and professional development to build and grow a high-caliber billing engineering team.
- Continuously improve billing processes and systems to support international markets, multiple currencies, tax jurisdictions, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading engineering teams responsible for complex, integrated billing or revenue management systems in international environments.
- Strong product management skills, including backlog prioritization, stakeholder management, roadmap planning, and user story refinement.
- Deep technical expertise in integrations between Salesforce (including multiple orgs), SAP ERP systems, Stripe payment gateway, Avalara tax service, and other billing-related platforms.
- Experience designing and building scalable, reliable, and secure billing services supporting usage-based, subscription, and one-time billing models.
- Extensive knowledge of international tax regimes, compliance, and revenue recognition standards.
- Expertise in service-oriented architecture, REST APIs, microservices, and cloud-native platforms.
- Strong background in software engineering best practices: CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, and incident response.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively bridge technical and business stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring or managing junior product managers or technical leads is highly desirable.
- Ability to operate autonomously with a strategic mindset and strong customer focus.
