About the role
- The Assistant Director position is responsible for management, administrative, planning and policy work involving the work of this large and busy division within the Department of Environmental Conservation.
- In collaboration with the Director, the position is responsible for leading and coordinating the overall work of the Division, ensuring the coordination and integration of all surface water programs.
- The job involves both proactive and reactive identification and resolution of issues - ranging from broad policy, programmatic analyses, and strategic planning to specific permitting coordination issues.
- The work is performed under the general supervision of the Division Director with considerable opportunity for independent action.
Requirements
- Master's degree or higher in a physical or natural science, in public or business administration, in engineering, or in law AND three (3) years or more at or above a supervisory level in a field directly related to environmental conservation or natural resources management.
- OR Bachelor's degree in a physical or natural science, in engineering, or in a field closely related to natural resource management AND five (5) years or more at a professional level in a field directly related to environmental conservation or natural resources management INCLUDING three (3) years or more at or above a supervisory level in natural resources management.
- OR Associate's degree in a physical or natural science, in engineering, or in a field closely related to natural resource management AND seven (7) years or more at a professional level in a field directly related to environmental conservation or natural resources management INCLUDING three (3) years or more at or above a supervisory level in natural resources management.
- OR Nine (9) years or more at a professional level in a field directly related to environmental conservation or natural resources management INCLUDING three (3) years or more at or above a supervisory level in natural resources management.
