About the role

  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work with business users across various departments to understand their reporting and analytics needs and translate them into technical requirements.
  • Design & Develop BI Solutions: Design, build, test, and deploy interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using BI platforms like Cognos and Power BI.
  • Data Modeling: Design, develop, and maintain scalable data models (e.g., star schemas, snowflake schemas) within the data warehouse or data marts to support reporting and analytical requirements.
  • ETL/ELT Development: Develop, optimize, and maintain Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) or Extract, Load, Transform (ELT) processes to integrate data from various source systems into the data warehouse or BI environment using tools like Informatica and Azure Data Factory.
  • SQL Proficiency: Write complex, efficient, and optimized SQL queries to retrieve and manipulate data for reporting and analysis.
  • Data Quality & Validation: Implement data quality checks and validation processes to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of BI solutions. Troubleshoot and resolve data discrepancies and performance issues.
  • Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize the performance of BI dashboards, reports, and underlying queries/data models.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain clear technical documentation for BI solutions, including data dictionaries, data lineage, and process flows.
  • Support & Training: Provide support and training to end-users on BI tools and reports.
  • Stay Updated : Keep abreast of industry best practices, emerging trends, and new features in BI and data warehousing technologies.
  • May travel up to 5% of the time. Travels by car (may include flying). May include overnight travel. May require working extended hours and some evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in the areas of computer science, math, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a BI Developer Role creating ETL pipelines with a focus on Enterprise Analytics projects.
  • Five (5) years of experience working with a variety of relational databases (e.g. DB2, SQL Server).
  • Two (2) years of experience in ETL development using industry-standard ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric).
  • Two (2) years of experience in administration, configuration, development, and management of data storage, integration, and ETL solutions on cloud (AWS, Azure) and on premise.
  • Experience in building data pipelines in AWS or Azure public clouds.
