About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Serve as the organizational expert regarding forestry and fire management for a statewide Environmental Program
Perform professional, multidisciplinary work in forestry, prescribed fire, and wildland fire management
Serve as the primary point of contact for forestry and fire environmental issues involving NCARNG facilities statewide, National Guard Bureau, and other Federal and state agencies
Report to the Director of Environmental Management
Manage Natural Resources, ITAM, Invasive Species, Forestry Management Plan, Integrated Wildland Fire Management Plan, Prescribed Fire, and Fire Training activities
Conduct independent research and data accumulation for regulatory protocols and environmental management issues
Analyze complex regulatory issues
Identify and resolve problems
Make decisions while coordinating multiple personnel and agencies

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental, or natural resource sciences, or a closely related curriculum, from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge or experience with Federal or State environmental laws, regulations, and policies is preferred
Experience planning and coordinating with Federal or State agencies on forestry and fire management matters is preferred
Experience executing integrated forestry, invasive species, or wildland fire management programs is preferred
All work history and education, including accurate dates of employment and attendance, must be documented on the application
Degrees and transcripts must be from an appropriately accredited college or university
International degrees and transcripts must be evaluated for accreditation by a recognized evaluation service by the closing date
Applicants seeking Veteran's Preference must attach a DD-214 form
Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach the required NGB 23A, DD256, or NGB 22 documentation
Selected applicants for PREA-subject positions will undergo a PREA-specific background check
