About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Responsible for ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of roadway and structure construction projects
- Serve as an on-site inspector and/or surveyor, providing technical support to engineers
- Monitor contractors’ daily operations and perform materials testing
- Verify construction activities meet required standards and specifications
- Assist with project stakeout and surveying tasks
- Monitor and document utility relocation work
- Ensure compliance with Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) requirements and environmental permits
- Coordinate with engineers, contractors, subcontractors, utility owners, and property owners to support timely projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or a related curriculum
- Two (2) years of progressive technician level experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with contract administration
- Knowledge in understanding contracts, plans, standards and specifications
- Experience in performing inspection, sampling, and testing of materials (concrete, asphalt density) to ensure compliance with NCDOT specifications
- Working knowledge of computer equipment (I-pads, desktop), software (HiCams and Share Point) and mathematical functions
- Experience in maintaining neat, legible and accurate records and reports, including computer/iPad data entry
