About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ensure compliance with motor fuels tax law within an assigned territory.
- Conduct inspections through the fuel distribution system including retail service stations, fuel terminals, and the trucking industry.
- Detect fuel tax evasion.
- Conduct investigations and undercover surveillance of persons and places engaged in motor fuels tax evasion schemes.
- Responsible for an assigned territory; must reside within assigned region.
- Some overnight travel is required.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
- Certification by North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission as a Law Enforcement Officer in good standing
- Law enforcement or investigative experience
- Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel
