About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Ensure compliance with motor fuels tax law within an assigned territory.
  • Conduct inspections through the fuel distribution system including retail service stations, fuel terminals, and the trucking industry.
  • Detect fuel tax evasion.
  • Conduct investigations and undercover surveillance of persons and places engaged in motor fuels tax evasion schemes.
  • Responsible for an assigned territory; must reside within assigned region.
  • Some overnight travel is required.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • Certification by North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission as a Law Enforcement Officer in good standing
  • Law enforcement or investigative experience
  • Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel
