Key responsibilities & impact

Ensure compliance with motor fuels tax law within an assigned territory.
Conduct inspections through the fuel distribution system including retail service stations, fuel terminals, and the trucking industry.
Detect fuel tax evasion.
Conduct investigations and undercover surveillance of persons and places engaged in motor fuels tax evasion schemes.
Responsible for an assigned territory; must reside within assigned region.
Some overnight travel is required.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
Certification by North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission as a Law Enforcement Officer in good standing
Law enforcement or investigative experience
Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel
