About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Serve as the lead project manager responsible for the development and management of new construction, renovation and major repair projects for the North Carolina Zoo Planning & Construction section
Manage the design and construction process for capital improvement and renovation projects
Coordinate internal engineering review of schematic designs and construction drawings provided by outside consultants
Represent the Zoo at construction progress meetings, conferences, inspections, and with the State Construction Office
Review construction quality to ensure adherence to plans, specifications, and codes
Review contractor payment requests and monitor project budgets

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Facilities or Construction Management or related Engineering field from an appropriately accredited institution
Two (2) years of related experience in construction project management
Must have a valid driver’s license issued from within the United States or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
Must have the agility and physical ability with or without accommodation to regularly and safely lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to modify delivery, language, or material to account for the characteristics and needs of the audience.
Must have excellent skills with computers including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
