About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

This position is located in the Food & Drug Protection Division.
Duties involve inspections and enforcing regulations as they apply to the manufacture, transport, storage, and sale of food.
Ensuring that food manufacturing, storage, and transportation facilities are adequate to ensure a safe, sanitary food supply.
Some overnight travel throughout the state may be involved, especially during the initial training period.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree with a major in biology, food science, home economics or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of food regulatory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid North Carolina driver license.
Selected applicant may undergo a background check in order to be commissioned as an Officer with the US Dept. of Health & Human Services in order to do contract work with the Food & Drug Administration.
