About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • This position is located in the Food & Drug Protection Division.
  • Duties involve inspections and enforcing regulations as they apply to the manufacture, transport, storage, and sale of food.
  • Ensuring that food manufacturing, storage, and transportation facilities are adequate to ensure a safe, sanitary food supply.
  • Some overnight travel throughout the state may be involved, especially during the initial training period.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in biology, food science, home economics or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of food regulatory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid North Carolina driver license.
  • Selected applicant may undergo a background check in order to be commissioned as an Officer with the US Dept. of Health & Human Services in order to do contract work with the Food & Drug Administration.
