About the role
- Inspect State-owned facilities for compliance with safety requirements of the State Electrical Code and NC Building Code
- Test various circuits and equipment with volt meters, ohm meters, meggars
- Write inspection reports and electrical safety recommendations
- Serve as an arbitrator to resolve differences between parties
- Approve change orders after assuring need and cost is appropriate
- Participate as expert witness on construction claims
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience
- Standard Certification as a Level III Electrical Inspector by Code Officials Qualification Board
- Valid NC Driver's License with acceptable driving record
- Knowledge of building construction, basic accounting, logic, National and State Codes/Standards, State Laws relative to construction
- Considerable knowledge of principle and practices of electrical engineering as they apply to the construction and maintenance of building systems is preferred
