Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A Masters Degree, and meet the Maine Department of Education’s requirements for obtaining a School Counselor certification or conditional certificate.
  • Knowledge of child development, counseling theories, educational systems, and relevant laws.
  • Skill in counseling, collaboration, communication, assessment, and data analysis.
  • Ability to foster positive student development, support academic achievement, respond effectively to crises, and build partnerships with families, educators, and community agencies while implementing a comprehensive school counseling program.
