About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review background screening reports from the State’s Background Screening Clearinghouse to determine initial-license eligibility
- Answer phone calls and provide information to applicants and licensees
- Reply to general emails
- Perform document intake and processing
- Handle communications and documents received via fax
- Process mail
- Record screening-result data in the Licensing and Enforcement Information Database System (LEIDS)
- Coordinate electronic requests for background-history information from the Federal Bureau of Investigation or the Florida Department of Law Enforcement
- Research LEIDS to determine whether a complaint to the Bureau of Enforcement is needed
- Consult with relevant organizations to ensure compliance with state and federal background-screening regulations
- Perform other related work as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Current authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
- Ability to review background screening reports for healthcare practitioner applicants, licensees, and facility owners
- Knowledge of administrative principles and practices
- Ability to understand and apply applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to provide technical assistance regarding program, applicant, or licensee issues
- Ability to provide consultative assistance
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to perform proficiently under pressure
- Knowledge and skills in utilizing computers and software
- Ability to work in a professional office environment, manage periodic interruptions, work in a confined workspace, and remain seated at a computer workstation for extended periods
- Willingness to physically come into the office
- Ability to learn and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in English
- Successful completion of required security background check and/or drug screening
- Male applicants born on or after October 1, 1962, must be registered with the Selective Services System or have a Letter of Registration Exemption
- Ability to complete Form I-9 and pass E-Verify employment eligibility verification
