About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide subject matter expertise in clinical protocol and criteria for Pharmacy Policy
- Employ medical, pharmaceutical, and regulatory knowledge in providing pharmacy services for Florida Medicaid fee-for-service and managed care programs
- Design and participate in research related to pharmacy and health care using appropriate research methodology
- Apply economic principles such as cost-effectiveness and cost analysis
- Incorporate research findings into reports and presentations for agency staff, stakeholders, and other health service disciplines
- Plan, develop, and implement policies and procedures for the statewide Medicaid Prescribed Drug Program
- Review and analyze proposed federal legislation, rules, regulations, and guidelines and determine their impact on the prescribed drug program
- Network and collaborate with health, social, and administrative disciplines on interdisciplinary research
- Participate in competitive and non-competitive procurement and develop and manage contracts
- Draft, improve, route, and send agency contracts and policy responses
- Provide written feedback on policy proposals and respond to public inquiries
- Provide oral presentations to agency employees
- Travel as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Two years of professional experience in the practice of pharmacy
- One year of experience working with a Medicaid health plan or Pharmacy Benefits Manager (PBM)
- Licensure as a Pharmacist in accordance with Florida Statute 465
- Licensed Registered Pharmacist, Chapter 465, F.S.
- Knowledge and experience in pharmacy practice principles, standards, and terminology
- Knowledge and experience in Health Outcomes Research and Pharmacoeconomics
- Knowledge of drug properties, usage, and drug interactions
- Ability to formulate and implement pharmacy policies, methods, specifications, and procedures
- Ability to organize data into logical formats for reports and presentations
- Ability to provide staff training
- Ability to evaluate drug therapy against set criteria
- Ability to develop program policy manuals, rules, and monitoring methodologies
- Ability to evaluate pharmacy methods, procedures, and services
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments
- Ability to communicate effectively and conduct fact-finding research
- Ability to apply program policies to operational and fiscal planning consistent with laws and the Medicaid mission
- Ability to prioritize workload and coordinate clinical pharmacy services
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to travel with or without accommodations
- Successful completion of required state and national criminal history background screening before employment
- Preference for at least 6 months of experience with managed care plans
- Preference for Pharmacy Policy experience within the last 5 years
- Preference for at least 6 months of experience with or within a Medicaid program
