About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute’s (FWRI) Center for Spatial Analysis (CSA) sub-section.
- Direct and participate in the design, coordination, development and implementation of spatial analysis research including species distribution and abundance modeling, ecological modeling, biogeographic assessment, habitat mapping, grant funded research projects, and GIS related research and development of modern data processing methods.
- Direct and participate in the design, coordination, development and implementation of GIS technical solutions that support the FWC including GIS data collection tools, web mapping services/applications, and, ESRI management (licensing and arcgis.com) and spatial data management.
- Serve as the manager for multiple simultaneous FWRI spatial analysis or technical GIS projects differing in scope and duration.
- Ensure cost-effectiveness and scientific integrity in FWC GIS projects.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 9 years professional experience in a closely-related biological field or laboratory program, two years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity, is required;
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course of study in one of the physical or natural sciences or mathematics and five years of professional experience in one of the physical or natural sciences or mathematics, two years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity;
- A master's degree from an accredited college or university with major course of study in one of the physical or natural sciences or mathematics and four years of professional experience as described above, two years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity;
- A doctorate from an accredited college or university with major course of study in one of the physical or natural sciences or mathematics and two years of professional supervisory experience as described above can substitute for the required experience.
- Candidates may be given preference if they have a Graduate degree from an accredited college or university in one of the natural sciences or information science.
