About the role
- Conducts comprehensive unannounced security audits at all correctional institutions to verify that physical security barriers and electronic intrusion devices are properly installed and in good working order.
- Reviews routine and emergency security practices to ensure that the staff is responsive, well trained, and in control of the environment.
- Inspects security control systems pertaining to tools, keys, weapons, sensitive items, and other areas to ensure compliance with departmental policies and effective resource management.
- Responsible for leading teams that conduct comprehensive security assessments of major institutions, work camps, and community facilities for the operational review process.
- Conducts additional on-site assistance when requested by the region or institutions to review various perimeter security components, i.e., security alert systems, cameras and fencing.
Requirements
- Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a shift supervisor or higher within the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) or another federal, state, or county correctional agency.
- Must possess strong organizational skills as well as strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Direct experience with coordinating, conducting or compiling security audits and operational reviews in a correctional environment.
- Experience with collecting, evaluating and analyzing data and using operational data base systems.
