About the role
- Develops and prepares roadway design plans and specifications using CADD software
- Performs engineering calculations, coordinates with support offices, and provides technical support throughout project development and construction
- Assists in performing complex engineering/ geometric calculations in the development of project design
- Develops alignment and grade including horizontal curves and vertical curves
- Assists in preparing and presenting design details and concepts at public meetings, local agency workshops and internal staff meetings
Requirements
- A high school diploma or its equivalent
- Knowledge of concepts, terminologies, design principles and analytical techniques of highway design
- Skills in the engineering process for production of highway construction plans
- Ability to establish and maintain effective internal and external working relationships
- Ability to apply engineering quantitative techniques in the area of highway design
