About the role

  • Receives immediate supervision from COM Senior Management Analyst Supervisor-SES and/or CareerSource supervisor.
  • Provides assisted core services to individuals as required.
  • Identifies and recommends to center supervisor actions and services needed to maintain compliance with established regulations, directives and procedures through effective utilization of program tracking tools.
  • Maintains and develops contact with resources within community groups and local organizations engaged in providing counseling and/or rehabilitative services.
  • Research employability trends and provides data to individuals and other agencies.
  • Assists Employment Security Representative I (ESR I) in more difficult cases.
  • Conducts training sessions to assist staff in recognizing individuals in need of counseling.
  • Creates monthly calendar for rotation/back-up of Resource Room.
  • Conducts self-evaluation and participates in shared evaluations for the purpose of professional development.
  • Provides information on CareerSource Southwest Florida services such as labor market information, hiring trends, employment opportunities and employer demands.
  • Coordinates the provision of labor exchanges services to eligible persons to include intake and assessment, one-on-one and/or group counseling, testing, job search assistance, quality job referrals and placement.
  • Assesses customer needs and provide referrals to services as appropriate for targeted groups.
  • Instructs job-seekers one-on-one and/or group settings by conducting employability skills workshops.
  • Provides specialized professional employment security services to individuals needing more complex assistance.
  • Plans, coordinates, and implements an outreach plan which includes a system to contact employers, community-based organizations, and civic-organizations on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Coordinates the provision of labor exchange services to employers in obtaining skilled and productive employees and job-seekers with the goal of obtaining meaningful employment opportunities.
  • Responds to and resolves customer complaints: Follows the standard operating procedure for customer complaint resolution.

Requirements

  • Must possess or obtain certification as a Workforce Professional Tier 1 within 12 months of employment in the position.
  • Required to travel.
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and/or 3 years’ experience in customer service, sales, marketing or career coaching.
  • At least one year of Professional or nonprofessional experience in area related to customer service.
  • Knowledge, skills and abilities with Microsoft Office Suite applications, including but not limited to (Word, Excel, and Power Point).
  • Knowledge of employment development and placement principles.
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of interviewing and counseling.
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection.
  • Ability to speak clearly and correctly.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to record, collect, evaluate and analyze data.
  • Ability to work independently by planning, organizing and coordinating work assignments.
  • Ability to listen effectively.
  • Ability to read and understand reports, documents and other written materials.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to promote employment programs/activities via telephone or personal contact with employers and community organizations.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of an integrated service delivery team.
  • Ability to prepare reports, relating to employment security activities.
  • Ability to learn and use other applicable State of Florida computer systems.
