About the role

  • Incumbent of position is a member of DFS’ Disaster Response Team and, in that capacity, may be required on short notice to perform duties and necessary attendant travel in support of disaster relief efforts.
  • Perform criminal history and intelligence checks with reference to investigations for all sworn personnel as directed.
  • Directly supports and assists investigators in the compilation and analysis of confidential information regarding insurance fraud and arson investigations and recommends specific investigative directions based upon such information.
  • Performs detailed research of criminal investigations and documents relating to insurance fraud and arson.
  • Compiles, analyzes, and disseminates information and criminal intelligence from various agencies, the public, and other sources, and utilizes these sources to maintain the exchange of pertinent information among law enforcement agencies.
  • Prepares oral briefings, written reports, and recommendations in the form of intelligence assessments and detailed factual reports used by agency management and field supervisors to evaluate investigative priorities in case development.

Requirements

  • A minimum of two (2) years of professional work experience in criminal justice, military intelligence, law enforcement, conducting research/interviews, data analysis, investigations, administrative assistant/executive assistant.
  • A post-secondary degree from an accredited university/college may be used as an alternative for the years of professional work experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • VALID Driver’s License from the Florida Department of Safety and Motor Vehicles by time of employment.
  • Preference: Special consideration may be given to eligible candidates who have bilingual verbal and written skills.
