About the role

  • Serve as the FWRI coral field operations coordinator at the South Florida Regional Lab in Marathon, Florida
  • Manage the FWRI coral in-water nursery and participate in agency coral restoration projects
  • Coordinate field operations for FWRI’s coral research, monitoring, and restoration activities
  • Facilitate administrative, programmatic, and logistical tasks for operational components
  • Act as FWRI’s in-situ coral nursery manager
  • Conduct in-water coral husbandry activities and monitor the nursery
  • Collaborate with partners and stakeholders as needed
  • Report on nursery activities via Survey123 software monthly
  • Assist with conducting field operations for coral restoration projects
  • Assist with analyzing data collected from field and laboratory projects
  • Assist with writing and co-authoring reports and manuscripts
  • Manage and operate agency vehicles and vessels for research activities

Requirements

  • 7 years professional experience in a closely-related biological field or laboratory program
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in physical or natural sciences or mathematics
  • 3 years of professional experience in physical or natural sciences or mathematics; or
  • A master's degree with 2 years of professional experience
  • A doctorate can substitute for the required experience
  • Master's degree in marine biological sciences preferred
  • Experience implementing coral research projects and/or nursery management preferred
