About the role

  • This position is a state budget analyst and is responsible for day-to-day operating budget, annual legislative budget requests, and other budget related assignments.
  • Budget analyst will monitor all financial activities while ensuring compliance with Florida Statutes as well as state and department goals, policies, and procedures.
  • This position reports to the Budget Director of the K-12 Budget Office and is located in the Florida Education Center, Turlington Building, Tallahassee, Florida.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Department’s annual Legislative Budget Request (LBR).
  • Serve as a budget analyst by monitoring all financial activities while ensuring compliance with Florida Statutes as well as state and department goals, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor the appropriation, approved budget, allocation, release, and availability of funds for the budget entities and divisions assigned.
  • Prepare expenditure projections as assigned including Salary, Other Personal Services, Expenses, Contract Services, and other categories as needed.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university or four (4) or more years' experience is required
  • Preference will be given to applicants with state budget experience and/or state accounting experience.
