About the role

  • Investigate firefighter line of duty deaths, and certain serious injury events.
  • Prepare reports to determine suitable devices, safeguards, or means of protection for the prevention of occupational diseases.
  • Conduct inspections of employer facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with workplace safety standards.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining policies and procedures that reduce and/or prevent firefighter employee accidents and occupational diseases.
  • Research and complete grant related applications in support of the Division.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) or more years’ experience conducting and documenting safety related investigations in the fire service.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience with fire safety related issues or concerns and compliance inspections.
  • Preferences: Instructor I, Live Fire Instructor, Florida Firefighter II, AA General Studies or AS in Public Safety related field.
