About the role
- Assist in planning, coordinating and implementing recreation/leisure activities for the people living at the Center.
- Supervise and implement recreation/leisure outings, field trips and special events.
- Provide training to individuals/athletes for Special Olympic competitions.
- Collect, tabulate and prepare data for cost accounting reports/time studies.
- Maintain records of progress/participation in rehabilitative therapy activities.
- Prepare and clean activity area.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
- At least one year of experience working with persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- At least one year of experience coordinating and implementing recreational activities.
- Experience with the Special Olympics of Florida.
- Knowledge of the objectives and techniques used in rehabilitation, recreational, occupational, or physical therapy.
- Ability to assist in or carry out therapy programs.
- Ability to observe patients' progress and identify changes.
- Ability to maintain records.
- Ability to participate in planning and organizing therapy programs.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
