About the role

  • Spend the majority of time supervising, communicating with, motivating, training and evaluating employees
  • Meet regularly with employees to assign work and establish work objectives and timelines
  • Plan, direct, organize, track and manage activities associated with the transportation systems management and operations (TSM&O) master plan and updates
  • Organize, track and monitor the identification and use of appropriate, value-added performance measures to maximize the safety operation of the District’s roadway infrastructure
  • Develop and manage consultant contracts and other types of agreements that support AMS/FMS functions
  • Ensure that all the paperwork required for purchasing pay documents and human resource matters are completed accurately and processed in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in accordance with Chapter 471, Florida Statutes, or able to obtain registration by endorsement as a Professional Engineer in the State of Florida under Chapter 471, Florida Statutes, within six months from your appointment date.
  • Knowledge of traffic engineering/operation principles and analysis techniques
  • Knowledge of TSM&O concepts, terminology, principles and practice
  • Knowledge of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)
  • Knowledge of traffic engineering study guidelines
  • Ability to identify, analyze and solve traffic operations, operational problems
  • Proficiency in using computers and current computer programs at an intermediate level
  • Project management and scheduling skills
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles and techniques
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate employee performance
  • Experience in business plan development and implementation
  • Ability to establish working relationships effectively and work with others, outside the line of formal authority, to accomplish organization goals and to identify and resolve problems.
