About the role
- Oversees the daily activities of the Department’s Accelerated Pavement Testing (APT) and statewide experimental performance monitoring programs.
- Develops, prepares, and executes testing plans to evaluate the pavement performance of APT sections.
- Collaborates with staff to conduct performance testing and maintain data reporting tools containing test results.
- Compiles, analyzes, and interprets collected data to prepare advanced technical reports for program participants and stakeholders.
- Provides regular updates on APT activities, key findings, and implementation progress during technical committee meetings, professional workshops, and academic conferences to promote knowledge sharing.
- Prepares and signs/seals related engineering documents and specifications as required.
- Manages projects and contracts.
- Plans and supervises the daily work of consultant staff.
Requirements
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in accordance with Chapter 471, Florida Statutes, or able to obtain registration by endorsement as a Professional Engineer in the State of Florida under Chapter 471, Florida Statutes, within one year of appointment date.
- Knowledge of pavement engineering concepts, principles, and analytical techniques.
- Skills in applying advanced engineering analysis as well as engineering judgment to solve pavement systems related issues/challenges.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently as well as with diverse partners in achieving common goals.
- Ability to supervise employees.
