About the role
- Provide leadership, oversight, communication, and marketing strategies for the agency’s HR processes
- Manage the Payroll and Benefits team, including workers’ compensation functional area
- Communicate with, motivate, train, and evaluate employees
- Recommend actions such as: hire, promotion, discharge, or discipline
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable Federal Law, Florida Statues, DMS Personnel Rules, Departmental Policies, etc.
- Independently coordinate and supervise the Payroll and Benefits unit to ensure compliance
- Represent the agency with external suppliers and stakeholders
- Analyze and formulate recommendations for operational, procedural, organizational, and policy implementation improvement
Requirements
- Supervisory experience
- Experience in State of Florida payroll processing
- Experience in State of Florida insurance and benefits processing
- Experience working with the People First system in an HR capacity
- Effective communication and excellent customer service skills
