About the role
- Manage the administration of work performed on highway and bridge construction projects
- Lead, direct, supervise and manage the overall activities of the District Construction Office and the District's Resident Construction and/or Operations Centers
- Ensure detailed review, analysis, and resolution of contractors issues, claims, and time extensions
- Represent the Department in Court or Arbitration if a settlement cannot be reached
- Manage the procurement of Consultant Construction Engineering and Inspection (CCEI) and Design Build Construction contracts
- Coordinate the exchange of information between District 3, the Office of Maintenance, the Central Office and other Districts
- Monitor the progress of construction projects and periodic checking of status of projects behind schedule
Requirements
- Knowledge of civil engineering, design and construction techniques, terminology, and principles
- Skilled in project management of construction engineering and inspection services
- Knowledge of Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) specifications for road and bridge construction
- Ability to interpret construction contracts, plans, and specifications
- Ability to interpret state and federal legislation, rules and policies related to construction program
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in accordance with Chapter 471, Florida Statutes
