About the role

  • Responsible for the management and supervision of the department’s activities relating to accounts payable
  • Management of the FDLE Purchasing Card program, travel reimbursements, other disbursements subject to Florida Statute 215.422 F.S.
  • Identification and resolution of operational and management problems in these areas
  • Uses independent judgment managing and supervising subordinates performing varied accounting and administrative responsibilities within the Financial Management bureau
  • Recommending travel reimbursement and Pcard management policies to maximize efficiency and effectiveness
  • Ensuring invoices are processed in accordance with established time frames and procedures
  • Interfacing with departmental members, state agencies, vendors and others
  • Interpreting and administering pertinent federal and state rules, regulations, and statutes in accordance with sound accounting principles
  • Preparing financial reports, cost projections and related financial statements
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of more effective accounting procedures and controls
  • Handling processes relating to personnel including hiring, establishing performance standards, training, evaluations, and other personnel related matters

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in a State of Florida Accounting or Business Administration Office
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of supervision and management
  • Knowledge of the Florida Accounting Information System (FLAIR)
