About the role
- Conducting legal research, providing oral and written legal advice, and drafting orders for the assigned circuit judges.
- Work on criminal trial and pretrial matters, and may assist with legal issues from other divisions and the Court Counsel.
- Review court files, pleadings, motions, memoranda of law, and other documentation.
- Review pro se motions for postconviction relief, motions to correct illegal sentence, etc.
- Research substantive and procedural areas of criminal law, and draft orders on trial motions.
- Attend hearings in court and prepare appropriate orders following the hearings.
- Perform case management of Death Penalty Cases and track Postconviction Relief Cases.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
- Member in good standing with The Florida Bar.
- Candidates who are currently pursuing membership are eligible to apply, but are required to attain Florida Bar membership within one year of hire.
