About the role
- This is a Health Support Technician position working for Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC)
- Work is performed under the supervision of the Public Health Nutritionist Supervisor
- This position may be asked to work in other clinics or community locations as required
- Complies with the mandatory requirements in Section 215.422 F.S. and Chapter 3A-24 Florida Administrative Code regarding prompt payment process of special formula
- This position is designated as a sensitive position and the position is required to maintain confidential information in accordance with the Florida Department of Health (FDOH) Palm Beach County Health Department (CHD) Information Security policies, protocols and procedures
- Collect blood samples using universal precautions and dispose of materials in compliance with OSHA regulations
- Perform clerical duties, such as verification of Immunizations in FL Shots, making referrals for family planning, maternity care and follow-up activities
- Responsible for intake required information for Income eligibility determination for WIC participants according to DMS150-24
Requirements
- Medical Assistant Certificate or higher per DHM 150-24 WIC Supplemental Procedures Manual
- Ability to take accurate height and weight measurements and calibrate measuring devices
- Ability to collect blood using universal precautions
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and others
- Skill in the use of Microsoft Windows based computer software programs
- Ability to apply high-level customer service to internal and external customers
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a comprehensible, focused and appropriate manner
- Ability to evaluate, analyze and organize information to develop an appropriate course of action
