About the role
- Represent the State of Florida in all criminal appeals filed with the District Court of Appeal and the Florida Supreme Court.
- Supervise the timely filing of necessary pleadings and documents.
- Review the assignments of error and conduct research necessary to prepare briefs.
- Represent the appropriate state official in habeas corpus proceedings filed by state prisoners in federal courts.
- Handle extraordinary litigation in both state and federal courts.
Requirements
- Admission to the Florida Bar.
- Two (2) years of professional experience in the practice of law, legal research, teaching law or in administrative or judicial hearings.
- Membership in good standing in another state Bar can substitute for the required admission to the Florida Bar provided that the attorney applies for and obtains admission to the Florida Bar within 12 months of appointment to a position in this class.
- A degree of Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and membership in the Florida Bar.
